Bids Sought for LHS Bldg. Renovations

The Treasurer of the Lakewood City School District will receive bids at the Board of Education Offices,13701 Lake Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107 for the following project:

Building D Renovations at Lakewood High School, 14100 Franklin Blvd., Lakewood, Ohio 44107, in accordance with the Drawings and Specifications prepared by: GPD Group, 520 South Main Street, Suite 25, Akron, Ohio 44311.

Any proposed equal for a Standard shall be submitted to the Architect no later than ten (10) days prior to the bid opening. If no Addenda are issued in association with the Bidder’s request, the proposed Equal shall be considered rejected.

Sealed bids will be received for:

Building D Renovations – Lakewood High School;

Opinion of Probable Cost is $100,000.00

Until Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. local time, when they will be opened and read aloud. Bids shall be submitted in duplicate in an opaque sealed envelope marked “Building D Renovations – Lakewood High School” and on the Bid Form provided.

A pre-bid meeting will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at the Lakewood High School, 14100 Franklin Boulevard, Lakewood, Ohio 44107. Prospective bidders are to meet at Building D, located to the south of Lakewood High School and west of the baseball field where a brief meeting and walk-thru of facilities will be conducted.

Each bid must be accompanied by a Bid Guaranty and Contract Bond (per section 153.571 (ORC) in the amount of (100%) of the highest aggregate amount of the base bid plus all add alternates submitted by the bidder, or a certified check in the amount of ten percent (10%) of that bid.

The Lakewood City School District reserves the right to waive informalities, to accept or reject any and all or parts of any and all bids, in whole or part or any combination thereof or award the contract to other than the lowest bidder. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after the closing time and receipt of bids.

The Lakewood Board of Education is accepting applications for appointment to the Lakewood Public Library Board of Trustees for the seven-year term commencing September 12, 2024.  Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, together with a curriculum vitae or resume detailing experience and qualifications, to the Superintendent of Lakewood City Schools, 13701 Lake Ave., Lakewood, OH  44107.  All letters of interest must be received by the Superintendent on or before May 15, 2024. Additional information concerning the duties and responsibilities of library trustees is available at https://www.lakewoodpubliclibrary.org/about/trustees/.

On April 22, The Rotary Club of Lakewood and Rocky River hosted the 26th annual West Shore Career-Technical District Outstanding Student Awards at their weekly luncheon. Sixteen recipients were honored for their dedication, leadership, and accomplishments in their career-technical programs.

Each award recipient is automatically nominated for the “Career-Technical Student of the Year” award, which will be announced later in the school year at the annual Career Passport Assembly.

West Shore Career-Technical District encompasses Bay Village, Lakewood, Rocky River, and Westlake.  WSCT serves more than 400 students in its  programs.
